    • 05230 Chorges

Opening period

  • Lifeguarding during the summer holidays.

Description

Situated just south-east of Chorges, this bay is best known for its ancient viaduct, which is revealed when the lake level drops. The area is accessible by car via a fairly narrow road, and there is plenty of parking available.

Chanteloube Bay is one of the most popular spots on Lac de Serre-Ponçon, offering an exceptional setting facing the Pic du Morgon.
At the entrance to the bay is the Chanteloube viaduct. This was never completed. Its purpose was to link a railway line between Chorges and Bercelonnette. In summer it is submerged, and in autumn when the lake is at its lowest, it is revealed.

The beach at Les Trémouilles was awarded the "Pavillon Bleu" label, a symbol of exemplary environmental quality.

➤ New for 2022: summer parking changes

This summer, the Communauté de Communes de Serre-Ponçon (CCSP) is introducing an experimental free shuttle service to go from the center of Chorges to Chanteloube Bay.

In order to encourage the use of these shuttles and combat the growing traffic problems at Chanteloube Bay every summer, the municipality has been working on redesigning all the car parks in the bay and is introducing paid parking in the last two car parks on the point.
Access to the two car parks on the tip, located after the Chanteloube Nautical Centre car park, will cost €3 for all motorised vehicles from 9 July to 21 August, from 9.30am to 5pm, subject to availability.

The free shuttle bus will run during this period and will take vehicles from the center of Chorges to the pointe de Chanteloube, as well as serving the intermediate car parks.

The Baie de Chanteloube now has 6 car parks offering almost 350 spaces, 105 of which will be subject to a charge during the period indicated.
To ensure the smooth running of the shuttle bus and all users, it is strictly forbidden to park outside the dedicated car parks.
