Exposition : Frédéric Mistral et Les Alpes

Embrun

Description

Exhibition dedicated to Frédéric Mistral (1830-1914) and the félibrige. Opening on 16 May at 6pm.

Fréderic Mistral is the guest of honour at the 3rd edition of the Région Sud's "Une année, un auteur". To mark the occasion, the Maison des Chanonges is opening its doors to the creator of the félibrige, who devoted his life to defending Provençal identity, culture and language.
Other félibriges who left their mark on the Hautes-Alpes region, such as Clovis Hugues and Auguste Thouard, will also be presented.
In partnership with the Région Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, the Département des Hautes-Alpes, the Félibrige, the Maintenance de Provence, the Cercle Alpin and the associations Escoureta dou Parpaioun and Sauvegarde et d'Études du Patrimoine Embrunais. Frédéric Mistral, an emblematic figure in our region, is being honoured this year as part of the 150th anniversary of his death. This is why the town of Embrun, in partnership with the Félibrige and the Cercle Alpin Arts et Traditions, wanted to dedicate an exhibition to him entitled: Frédéric Mistral et les Alpes. The reason for this is the close and important links between Félibrige, the association founded in 1854 by Frédéric Mistral, and the people of the Hauts-Alpes. The Alps, and Embrun in particular, have produced many Félibres since the association was founded. This exhibition is an opportunity to showcase them and pay tribute to them too. It is complemented by an exhibition of traditional costumes from the Hautes-Alpes and the ceded valleys of Italy, corresponding to the Napoleon III period, when the Félibrige was founded.
