Fishing in Serre-Ponçon

Could you briefly introduce yourself and explain your passion for fishing?

A native of Isère, I spent several years in Les Orres during the summer vacations, before settling here in 1989. After working in various professional sectors, I joined the town council and never left. I only discovered fishing more recently, and it quickly became a real passion!

Why did you choose Serre-Ponçon for your fishing?

Living in Serre-Ponçon has shown me just how attractive the area is for anglers. Its assets: accessibility for all levels of angler and the possibility of practicing all techniques. Water is omnipresent: lakes, lakes, rivers and torrents, high-altitude lakes... so many places to explore.

What are the different rivers? What about Lac de Serre-Ponçon? What are the differences?

I quickly developed a passion for fishing that combines the pleasure of exploring magnificent landscapes, the desire to escape and the testing of my patience. After trying my hand at fishing for bleak, gudgeon, roach and other small fish in the lake, I turned to bigger catches such as perch and pike. It was the Durance that gave me my first taste of trout, but since my introduction to stream fishing, I can't hide the fact that I've abandoned all other techniques. Ah! stream fishing! For me, it's an immense source of happiness, which I experience in the sometimes strenuous walk, depending on the terrain, and in the pleasure of waiting...

Is there a more suitable site for beginners? And for thrill-seekers?

As far as I'm concerned, there's no particular beginner's site. The vastness of Serre-Ponçon allows everyone to discover different fishing techniques: hard lures, soft lures, metal lures, natural baits (days are programmed by the Federation all year round). For a thrill, choose pike fishing: its compact musculature and powerful swimming action are guaranteed to get your adrenalin pumping! The fight can be tough, so be careful not to end up in the water!

When can you fish in Serre-Ponçon?

Serre-Ponçon is open to fishing all year round (with the exception of salmonids), a godsend for keeping your hand in when fishing is closed elsewhere, and enriching the range of leisure activities on offer to holidaymakers whatever the season.

What species can be caught in Serre-Ponçon?

Species range from trout and pike to perch, roach and carp to whites, carnivores and salmonids. Connoisseurs and gourmets know what I'm talking about!
You can also practice "No-kill", i.e. return your catch to the water after it has been caught, without injuring it, as the angler uses barbless hooks. This environmentally-friendly fishing technique combines pleasure with preservation of the natural environment.

A favorite fishing trip for you?

I didn't fall in love with any particular outing, but every time I fish in a stream or river with friends who have passed on their passion to me, I appreciate their sharing of experience, their advice and the good times they give me.
