A ballet of sails at Serre-Ponçon!
The Club Nautique Alpin de Serre-Ponçon is organizing a unique race of Melges 24 monohull sailing boats on Lake Serre-Ponçon. For 3 days, you'll be able to witness a veritable ballet of sails waltzing on the turquoise waters of Serre-Ponçon. Between 15 and 20 boats, some 80 crew from all over Europe (French, Italians, Swiss, Germans...) will compete in this unprecedented regatta!

What is a Melges 24?
The Melges 24 is a 24-foot (7.52m) monohull keelboat sailed by 4 or 5 crew members. It's solid, high-performance, easy to rig or launch using its trailer, and simple to dismast and move on the road. This light, high-performance boat has a large sail area: 62m2 spinnaker (type of sail hoisted at the front of a sailboat), 35.31m2 mainsail (main sail) and 11.72m2 jib (triangular-shaped headsail on a sailboat).

- Raid routes, navigation area between Savines-le-Lac and Embrun
July 10 : end of day: craning, launching & prize-giving ceremony
Two themed evenings will be held at Chadenas in Embrun, on the Club Nautique Alpin Serre Ponçon site.

The mountains encircling the lake and the thermal amplitudes between day and night, which kick in during the summer months, mean that thermal breezes appear almost daily.
