Can you tell us about your background in fishing in Serre-Ponçon?

Born in Gironde, I arrived in the embrunais region at the age of 6. My father and grandfather taught me to fish. Over the years, I've discovered the latest lure fishing techniques, organizing "no kill" competitions on Lac de Serre-Ponçon and the Embrun lake, and sharing my passion for fishing with friends. Today, I'm a member of the AAPPMA (Association Agréée de Pêche et de Protection des Milieux Aquatiques) "La gaule embrunaise".

Why did you choose Serre-Ponçon as the location for your business?

When I was a child, my father passed on his passion to me by introducing me to Serre-Ponçon: its wild creeks accessible only by boat, its superb viewpoints and the different fishing techniques it offers. But it's the diversity of the ecosystem and the immensity of the lake that I appreciate most of all.

What are the different practices on Lac de Serre-Ponçon? What are the differences?

Everything is possible on the lake, from jigging and trolling to lure fishing and the very specific fishing for carp and whitefish. When you're jigging (for whitefish), you're static: you bait and then try to lure the fish to you, whereas when you're lure fishing (for predators), you're constantly on the lookout for fish; this technique is akin to stalking.

Is there a more suitable site for beginners? And for thrill-seekers?

If you're looking for a beginner's introduction, all the lake's shores are within walking distance for a fun game of spearfishing. The Embrun lake is also a safe bet. Attractive releases are also made in season on the Réallon and Durance rivers. If you're looking for a thrill, you'll need patience, perseverance and sometimes even self-sacrifice!

When can you fish in Serre-Ponçon?

All year round, all techniques and all species! And that's rare enough to emphasize! There are temporary fishing reserves (from June1 to July 15). However, fishing is permitted from January 1 to December 31, and each season has its own charm.

A favorite fishing trip for you?

My December 14, 2020 outing: I set off to fish for lake trout in Serre-Ponçon, but after two hours during which nothing happened, I completely changed my technique for stalking predators. After three casts, it's a magnificent 1.22-meter pike that I manage - not without a few twists and turns - to get out of the water! A fisherman's Holy Grail!
